Adding a plate changes the distance between the engine and transmission. Confirm the required spacing, fastener thread engagement and locating-dowel engagement for your assembly. A matching engine-family name alone does not establish transmission compatibility.

For an automatic transmission, check torque-converter seating, pilot engagement and converter-to-flexplate clearance against the transmission manufacturer's instructions. Do not use the bellhousing bolts to pull an unseated transmission into place. This plate occupies the block-to-bellhousing joint; it does not provide a crankshaft or flexplate spacer, longer fasteners or a complete conversion kit.
