Pitch and gear ratio

32P is a common RC gear pitch. The supplier also lists it as module 0.8. A pinion must match the spur gear's pitch. A 32P pinion will not mesh correctly with a 48P or Mod 1.0 spur, and mixing pitches wears both gears fast.

Tooth count sets the ratio. A lower count, such as 11T, gives quicker acceleration and lower top speed. A higher count does the opposite.

Vehicles the seller lists

The seller states this gear suits 1/5, 1/6, 1/8, 1/10, 1/14, 1/16 and 1/18 scale RC cars, monster trucks and buggies from Arrma, Tamiya, Traxxas, Axial, HSP, Redcat and Losi. The fit comes down to the motor shaft size, so measure yours before ordering.

This is a generic aftermarket part. It is not made by or for any of those brands.

Installation

  1. Slide the pinion onto the motor shaft. Use the adapter sleeve first if your shaft is 3.17mm.
  2. Line the grub screw up with the flat section of the shaft, then tighten it with a hex driver.
  3. Spin the gear by hand and check that it runs straight without wobble.
  4. Set the gear mesh: leave a slight play between the pinion and spur teeth, about the thickness of a piece of paper, then lock the motor down.
  5. Recheck the grub screw after the first runs. Vibration can work it loose.

Check before ordering

  • Pitch: your spur gear must be 32P (module 0.8) to mesh with this pinion.
  • Shaft: 5mm motors fit directly; 3.17mm motors need the sleeve shown in the photos.
The listing offers 13 tooth counts between 11T and 24T but does not state which count ships for a given order. Confirm the count you need when you order.
