Weld-On Hinges

Aluminum weld-on hinge with a grease fitting

This hinge is intended for fabricated door, gate and ramp projects on trailers or truck bodies where a weld-on mounting arrangement is suitable. One assembled hinge is shown, with three barrel sections along a common pivot. The middle section carries a flat weld tab on one side; the two outer sections carry tabs on the opposite side.

A grease fitting with a red cap is positioned on the middle barrel. Plan the hinge location so that you can reach this fitting after installation, with enough room around the pivot for the door or gate to move through its required travel.

Match the hinge to the fabrication

Check the available mounting area, pivot position and clearance against your existing hinge or fabrication drawing before ordering. The door or ramp's size, weight and hinge spacing must be assessed together. This product has no confirmed working-load rating, so its suitability for a load-bearing ramp must be established by the fabricator.

The hinge is listed as aluminum. Its alloy grade and pivot-pin material are not specified. Confirm the hinge's weldable sections and the material of the door and frame before choosing a joining process. A steel mounting surface requires an appropriate joint design; it should not be treated as a direct aluminum-to-steel weld installation.

Positioning and service access

Have a fabricator select the joint preparation, filler and welding method for the confirmed materials. Position the hinge with the door or gate properly supported, check alignment with any other hinges, and account for weld distortion. Follow the fabrication plan for final joining and inspection.

After fitting, check that the pivot moves without binding and that the grease fitting remains accessible. Use a suitable lubricant and service interval confirmed for the assembly. The fitting provides a lubrication point; it does not establish a maintenance-free life or a load capacity.
