TV cable mounting for 700R4 and 2004R

This aftermarket 376700 steel bracket provides a carburetor mounting point for the throttle valve (TV) cable on 700R4 and 2004R transmissions. Its formed mounting tabs and cable retainer openings hold the cable housing near the throttle linkage.

Check the carburetor and linkage

The listed applications are Carter AFBT, Quadrajet and Edelbrock carburetors. Compare the mounting holes and cable housing retainer with your existing setup before ordering. For Edelbrock, confirm the exact Performer carburetor and its intake arrangement; the family name alone does not establish fit for every carburetor or manifold.

Edelbrock specifies transmission cable adapter 8026 for Edelbrock/Carter AFB carburetors used with GM 700R4 or 2004R transmissions. This mounting bracket does not replace that throttle arm adapter or establish the correct TV cable geometry by itself. A Quadrajet installation also needs the correct throttle lever attachment point and cable travel.

Before operating the transmission

The TV cable controls transmission line pressure and shift timing. Follow the transmission manufacturer's instructions for cable geometry and adjustment after installing the bracket. Incorrect adjustment can damage the transmission.

With the engine off and the choke open, check that the throttle moves freely from idle to wide open throttle and returns without binding. Confirm the cable reaches its required travel through that movement before driving.
